Nvidia and AMD will reportedly pay 15% of their Chinese language income to the US authorities to allow them to promote AI-capable chips there, regardless of warnings from safety consultants


In line with the Monetary Instances, Nvidia and AMD have joined collectively in an unprecedented commerce settlement that may see them pay the US authorities 15% of income from their chip gross sales in China. In return, the 2 tech giants will acquire the export licenses they should promote semiconductors within the Chinese language Market.

It is particularly Nvidia’s H20 chips and AMD’s MI308 they’re trying to promote, and which the 15% tariff will likely be paid on.
