Ideas/Evaluation:
I don’t know if Keroro Gunsou☆ Episode 01 is an anime unique episode or not. What I do know is that it’s NOT method I’d have began a reboot anime adaptation of the manga sequence.
What the…?!
If you’re new to this franchise, good luck making an attempt to know a lot of something in Keroro Gunsou☆ Episode 01. There are not any character introductions in any respect. The narrative is such that the viewers is given an concept that these frog-like beings are invaders. However there’s NOTHING to elucidate the rest. The BN Photos writers clearly did this episode for folk who already know ALL of the lore (or a great chunk of it). Who thought that was a good suggestion?
Sure, I do know the unique Keroro Gunsou began off in a similar way. I don’t bear in mind liking it a lot then both. I don’t perceive why you wouldn’t need to simply adapt the manga because it was written. Nevertheless, that seems to be what episode 2 may do.
As to the story itself, it’s relatively normal fare stuff if you realize the franchise. Kururu was the one one appearing out of character, no less than for the anime. (I’ve not learn the manga volumes from TokyoPop is YEARS.) Extra on that in a bit. And on the finish, we get Alisa, Mutsumi, Kogoro, and Lavie ’trigger they’re (or will probably be) frequent, reoccurring characters.
That apart, I did get a smile on the MASSIVE Gundam nods with all of the Gunpla.
Seiyuu Adjustments
We have now an all new forged of seiyuu for the brand new Keroro Gunsou☆ Episode 01. For probably the most half, the seiyuu do an excellent approximation of the voices and traits of the unique forged. As a very long time, sporadic viewer of the anime, I’m used to the characters sounding a sure method. To that finish, I admire that effort on the a part of the brand new seiyuu.
Nevertheless, ECHIGOYA Kosuke’s efficiency as Kururu was jarringly completely different. When KOYASU Takahito performed the position, there was a particular air of indifference to his voice. That match with Kururu’s persona. Echigoya-san’s efficiency massively modifications Kururu’s persona. He really looks like he cares in regards to the others. The story additionally mirrored that change. Nevertheless, it’s simply one thing I didn’t take care of.
Lastly, the narrator modifications from a person to a lady. Initially, I wasn’t positive what was occurring after I heard the lady communicate. I assumed it was Keroro doing a voice. Then it dawned on me that she needed to be the narrator. She simply kinda blended in.
Crunchyroll
As to Crunchyroll’s adaptation of Keroro Gunsou☆ Episode 01, shockingly they do retain the Japanese honorifics for Japanese characters. Effectively, not the brother/sister ones. For the Keronians, it’s clear the adapter has no understanding of the franchise. Keron represents a militaristic Japan. Every thing they do is Japanese. Some components are taken from the samurai. Some from the World Struggle II interval. Thus the Keron aliens ought to all nonetheless use full Japanese honorifics.
As a substitute, they’ve Keroro handle Fuyuki as “Officer Fuyuki” as an alternative of “Fuyuki-dono”. Ditto with Natsumi. And I’m guessing that when Aki will get a talking roll, will probably be the identical for her. It could have been higher to depart all of the Japanese honorifics in.
There was a spot of localization that made me cringe. When Giroro is occurring all, the subtitles had him say, “Get wrecked, noobs!” 😑 You’re not humorous and it wasn’t “cool”.
Last Ideas and Conclusion
In the long run, Keroro Gunsou☆ Episode 01 wasn’t as tedious as a whole lot of the OG anime episodes I’ve watched. (I nonetheless want to complete that.) However it’s loopy that they didn’t begin the story firstly.
